The ground floor is butchers, fishmongers, cheese and vegetable stalls, and the tripe counters where Florentines eat lampredotto standing up. It works to market hours and is finished by the early afternoon.
The upper floor was converted into a food hall and keeps much longer hours. It is busier, more expensive and aimed at visitors, which does not make it bad.
The streets immediately outside are the San Lorenzo leather market — mostly aimed at tourists, and worth knowing that before bargaining.
⭐ Come before lunch for the real market. After two you are only seeing the food court.
