The front is eleventh- and twelfth-century green-and-white marble geometry — the pattern that the Baptistery and Santa Maria Novella both descend from — and it faces the whole city.
Inside, the floor is inlaid with marble zodiac panels, there is a raised choir over a crypt, and Michelozzo's chapel sits in the middle of the nave.
The monks still sing Gregorian chant in the crypt in the late afternoon, which is open to anyone who happens to be there.
